Should I Hire a Realtor?

Should I Hire A Realtor When Selling My Home?

Can you buy or sell a home in Wisconsin or Minnesota without losing thousands of dollars on your bottom line?

We ALL want that right?

But you’ll need to do a few things. Long story short, is to make sure you hire a real estate agent when looking to buy or sell your home, but let me tell you why!

Hi, I’m Jamie with Minnesconnie Homes, brokered with EXP Realty.

So this is an intriguing question, especially given the market the last couple years! There’s been a lot of talk about working with companies to buy or sell a home without an experienced realtor, or hiring a discount broker who will sell your home for next to nothing probably because they lack the experience to be able to actually compete with agents who truly know how to outperform them in either negotiations, marketing, or your experience overall. It actually makes me a little worried for sellers out there!

Now, I don’t claim to be a doctor, but buying or selling a home is most likely one of your largest assets, other than your actual body and health of course, and you wouldn’t operate on yourself would you? I know I wouldn’t!

And when hiring a doctor, wouldn’t you want to hire a doctor that specializes in fixing whatever body part you’re having trouble with? For example, if you broke your hip, you wouldn’t go to a general doctor for advice and services. You’d go to an experienced orthopedic doctor and better yet, one who specializes in hips! So do the same with your real estate and mortgage professionals when looking for advice and services!

It truly can make the difference between you losing a lot of money and potential interest when you’re selling a home. If you hire an agent or lender who isn’t experienced, to know how to capitalize on your investment and guide you in what funding programs are available for you to be able to utilize, well, that unfortunately will end up being a huge loss for YOU, whether you know it or not. So hire someone with experience!

Lastly, What about negotiations and the entire process of a home transaction?

What if you were being sued for example; Wouldn’t you want to hire the very best attorney to keep you out of jail or keep more money in your pocket in case you have to pay out? Of course you would! You want to hire a great attorney that you feel you can trust, who can negotiate between you ending up in a cell or possibly being bankrupt.

These may seem like drastic analogies, but really your home is no different. Remember, it’s most likely your largest investment, so be careful not to hire just anybody! If someone is quick to bring down their commission, they’re likely lacking being able to add value to your experience and home sale or purchase!

So take my advice. Being a specialist, having the experience, and knowing how to negotiate is the right choice when purchasing or selling your largest investment.
